The Budding Twig socks from March are finally done! Ok, so I still need to block them, but I finished! My first socks ever! I am so proud of them and actually don’t hate socks for once. I MIGHT be convinced to make another pair someday!

That Socks!

22 May

I’ve been a bit absentee but for good reasons. I expect things to pick back up soon with lots of great posts but for now here is the sock progress! 20120522-140010.jpg

I restarted the lace a solid 4 times which was exhausting and discouraging but now hope is near… and then I get to do this all over again for the other sock. Not sure how I feel about that.

Finish Line!

9 Apr

Almost finished I should say. My January purple Mitts are done! I finished knitting them tonight and attached the buttons I previously purchased. The buttons are a bit much so I am planning to swap them for something more simple, but I’m very pleased with how they turned out. I need to block them still but I think I can call this one done and start to think about using that Spring yarn that arrived last week!

Its been a long weekend full of holiday festivities and I’m too tired to take pictures and upload them properly so I’m going to just stick a few iPhone photos on here until I get the new buttons and block them.

Spring Has Sprung!

2 Apr

My new yarn shipment has arrived!

The yarn, the dyer’s notes and the patterns, they’re all a treat. I’m leaning towards the sock pattern but I’ve got to finish up January’s project first.

I was so excited to get it wound. Usually I wind into a cake but I’ve been having a lot of tangling and prefer a ball these days.

The color inspiration is the spring branches and new growth. How appropriate to go along with me watching the Peony come to life.

In other news, the taxes are done! Ah Spring…

All the Little Things

25 Mar

You may have noticed in my last post that my orange stitch markers are like big traffic cones in the middle of that beautiful purple yarn. I’ve noticed it a lot. I had a pair of great stitch markers and I can’t find them anywhere, so I stopped at A.C. Moore and got some Swarovski elements to try to use. I need to go back and get some larger loops to help them swing more freely, but just looking at them makes me so happy.

I am eagerly awaiting my new shipment which should arrive this week, but that also makes me feel rushed to  finish this project up. I am so thrilled to be back to knitting!

The Knitting Factory

22 Mar

A few years ago I taught myself to knit. I was an addict, I had a blog, I read blogs about knitting, I was one of the early people on Ravelry, I knit nearly every day. Then I had an unfortunate run in with a pair of stairs, tore my shoulder, got a stressful promotion, and a bad brown dog who demanded all of my attention. Knitting didn’t have much of a place in my life but I longed to get back into it.

This year for Christmas my husband got me a membership to a knitting club. Every other month I will get a new yarn and pattern to knit alongside the rest of the world. I’m so thrilled to start this back up, and to have a place to document that again. Right now I’m trying to wrap the rest of this up and can’t wait to provide the pictures of the finished object, but here’s an in progress photo.
